Papal Visit Vanimo 8th September 2024

Pope Francis will be visiting Vanimo on 8th September 2024 received by local Reverend Bishop Francis Meli of the Vanimo Diocese. The pope is to visit a refuge home in Vanimo known as the Lujan home for girls which is run by the Servants of the Lord and Virgin or Mataria sisters. They take care of approx. 30 girls aged between 2-30 years old. Vanimo was chosen as the province to visit due to the pope’s vocation to reach out to remote areas that were least developed and in need of essential services.
